A
gas lighter is a portable device that allows the user to ignite flammable materials, such as cigarettes or other liquid fuels, candles or fireworks. These devices can be battery operated or powered by electricity.
The ignition of a gas lighter is accomplished by the contact of a hammer and spring assembly with an impact pad. The impact pad is located at the bottom of a case in the lighter.
When the hammer strikes the impact pad, it is able to generate a high degree of pressure, which causes a static spark charge in the ignition head. This spark charges the flint to start burning the liquefied fuel inside the lighter.
A gas lighter should have a flame height adjustment screw that can be adjusted to increase or decrease the amount of fuel. The adjustment screw is typically a larger brass screw with a standard (slot) head. Turning the screw clockwise will cause the flame to become smaller and vice versa, while turning it counterclockwise will cause the flame to increase.
Depending on the model of lighter, this adjustment screw may have a notch in the center to help guide the screw into place. It is important to not force the adjustment screw in either direction, as this will lead to a malfunctioning lighter.
A gaslighter is a person who is using emotional abuse to manipulate a victim’s reality in order to control them. Often, gaslighters use tactics like intimidation and deception to make the victim feel that they are powerless or that there is no one to support them.
