Pocket lighters are small, compact and reliable and are available in a wide variety of colors. They are also available in multiple ignition options, including windproof, flameless and double flame burners.
Can a pocket lighter be refilled?
In most cases, it is not possible to refill a lighter. These lighters are made to be disposable and the manufacturers often advise that you should purchase a new lighter whenever the fluid runs out.
Some lighters, however, can be refilled and will work well again when a few steps are taken to do so. The first step is to bleed the lighter, which is an easy task that can be accomplished with a paper clip or a small, thin screwdriver.
The next step is to refill the lighter with fresh butane. This will ensure that you don't need to buy a new lighter anytime soon.
Using a push pin, carefully open the refill valve on the bottom of the lighter. It's a good idea to create a seal on the applicator by placing three rubber grommets over it so that no extra butane can leak out while you're refilling the lighter.
Then, fill the refill hole with butane and hold it firmly for about five seconds. Once it has filled completely, reclose the applicator and the refill valve to prevent the butane from leaking out again. If the refill valve does not close, use a screwdriver to force it shut. You may need to repeat the process once or twice to get it completely sealed.
